Turtle Tough

This is a critical piece of infrastructure to keep the MILL running and is under extreme load and environmental conditions.  Pushed to it’s limits it requires regular monitoring.  In the past switchboard fires have caused significant outages and financial loss.

As you can see by the images, the environment is extremely dirty, and due to regular wash down there is often water and other contaminants in the vicinity.

OPEN PANEL INSPECTION is NOT an option!

The Turtle Tough IR windows provide a convenient and safe inspection point for regular thermal inspections.

The large 4 inch square size of the Turtle Tough IR Window allows a massive viewing area.  Due to the rectangular shape of the detector in a thermal imager a square aperture optimises the viewing area without clipping the image (as do round windows). As you can see  from the image below the IR window provides a very clear image of internal components.   The Turtle Tough IR windows utilises the latest polymer technology which unlike many crystal products provides a stable and predictable transmission of energy. With a known transmission rate the operators are able to confidently assess the temperature of the internal components, which at the time of this inspection was a whopping 172°C.
